Haas & Hahn
Ms. Pfeiffer has recently called my attention to a duo of Dutch artists called Haas & Hahn who are working on an extraordinary project on Praça Cantão in Santa Marta, a favela in the heart of Rio de Janeiro. The duo began community-driven "art interventions" in Brazil at the beginning of 2006.
Since then Haas & Hahn have developed numerous projects with enormous dimensions. Literally using the favela as their canvas. Now this raises debate regarding the role of art in our society. What role do you think art plays in the lives of those living in Santa Marta? What role does art play in your life?

Parabéns pelo site! Tá muito bem estruturado, e sem dúvida, é um dos melhores projetos que vi na escola. A escolha de matérias é genial, a exemplo desse projeto dos artistas holandeses. A arte é algo que é necessária a todos -- ainda mais necessária para os moradores da favela de Santa Marta. Ontem, vi uma matéria na BBC sobre artistas nas ruas de Brooklyn que "reviveram" um quarteirão abandonado pela recessão -- vale a pena vocês procurarem algo em relação a isso.
First off, adorei o site! Esta inacreditavel! Voces tem muito talento. Posso sugerir uma materia para o futuro proximo? Alguma coisa do tipo de: "Funny ways to decrease exam stress."

leo e lu! eu adorei como vocês conseguiram fazer este site seja informativo e divertido. Esse post do Haas & Hahn é muito interessante e impressionante. Acredito que todos os moradores do Santa Maria foram beneficiados pois a favela ficou bem mais bonita e virou de algum jeito atracao. Leo, quem sabe você pode post suas fotos artísticas tambem?
Absolutamente amei esse post. A idéia foi maravilhosa e criativa. A arte com certeza hoje em dia é uma grande parte da vida dos morades de Santa Marta, pois mudou o ambiente deles para uma muito mais bonita, criativa e interessante. Adorei a iniciativa desses dois.

maravilhoso o projeto. achei super legal como eles conseguiram melhorar o astral da favela sem contar que motiva todos a ficarem mais próximos da arte como deveriam.

about 3 years ago I realized I didn’t want to be an engineer or the businessman my father hoped I would be. I couldn’t imagine myself working behind a desk, under the chaotic office environment. I decided to head my career towards what I felt would be more enjoyable: working with ART and graphic design. ART plays a major role my life since it is a talent and a passion I was born with. PS: I'm going to do a summer program at SVA (School of Visual Arts) and I'm really looking forward to it!!! hbu Luba?
Leoba this question to me is almost unanswerable, and it would probably get really wordy and make people want to smack me in the face. In very very simple terms though, art is something that inspires me to make more art, it sparks my curiosity for other subjects, it simplifies things i can't understand, it changes my mood/surroundings. There are more "roles it plays in my life" but I shall keep it short.
