Bricks for Happiness

Dozens of hours of intense building under the burning sun were paid off with laughter, afternoon beach walks, and soccer games. I had the opportunity to join this year’s Habitat group on an amazing trip to Ilha do Cardoso, where we built a community center for the village. At first constructing an entire building seemed like quite an intense and not-so-pleasurable job, but the welcoming and thankful faces of the residents, and the enthusiasm of the Graded students reversed my initial impression, and guaranteed a week of excitement, laughter, and satisfaction.
