The Races of Mankind
In 1946 at Columbia University, two anthropologists named Ruth Benedict and Gene Weltfish created a pamphlet intended for American troops returning from war, called The Races of Mankind. Their idea was to use simple language in a cartoon to educate about equality among people, despite different physical appearances, leading to the point that all people deserved “an equal chance in life.” That year the pamphlet was adapted into a wonderful short animated film.
