The Willard Suitcases
Photographer Jon Crispin has gone back in history, taking photographs of old abandoned suitcases and their contents. What is notable is that the suitcases were left by patients committed to the New York State Willard Asylum for the Chronic Insane, which opened in 1869 and was shut down in 1995. Although the theme of Crispin's project is quite macabre, the images are absolutely fascinating and fantastically vivid.
