To the Slaughterhouse They Go

The elusive British street artist Banksy has made his presence known again. As part of his current NY "artist-in-residence" project, a truck full of squawking stuffed animals, entitled "Sirens of the Lambs," circulated the streets of New York City on Friday, focusing on the Meatpacking District. From sheep to pigs, different farm animals were part of the project, all presumably shrieking for their lives. Besides the grim prospect of the killing of such sweet-looking animals, the true aim of the work is ambiguous; however, some hypothesize that the project conveys the loss of childhood innocence.

You can follow the daily developments of Banksy's month-long NY project here.
