Bacteriography

Art is omnipresent: even a microbiologist has turned his work into visual art. Zachary Copfer seeks a genuine union of science and art. In the darkroom, he uses a radiation source and a petri dish coated with living bacteria to create portraits of famous scientists. As he explained, "Great beauty and poetry reside within the theories woven by scientists...it is through the unification of art and science that these treasures can be fully explored and made accessible to the world at large."
